Diesel Exhaust Fluid
DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid)
Our aqueous solution contains 32.5% of urea. The solution is injected into the exhaust pipe upstream of the SCR catalyst (Selective Catalitical Reducer ). Due to the high temperature, urea decomposes to amonia and carbon dioxide. The ammonia then reacts with the nitrogen oxides to form by a reduction reaction dinitrogen and water. For example, with nitric oxide, the reaction can be written as follows:
- 4 NO + 4 NH3 + O2 → 4 N2 + 6 H2O.
The goal of this technology is to allow vehicles to meet international standards from vehicle exhausts emissions.
